Fiber Optic Fusion Splice Protection Sleeves are the economical solution to provide protection at the fused juncture between two fusion spliced optical fibers. They are a great alternative to recoating fiber optic cables, offering quality and reliability in a robust, easy-to-use design. Fusion splice sleeves are used to restore the environmental integrity and mechanical strength of fiber optic cables after fiber splicing and to prevent bending or flexing of the spliced area. Standard, slim, ribbon, mini, and micro protection sleeves are available. Slim fiber fusion splice sleeves provide clear protection with a reduced diameter for a smaller finished product allowing more splices to fit into fiber optic splice trays. Mini fiber fusion splice sleeves for 250µm coated fibers and micro fiber fusion splice sleeves for 900µm or 250µm coated fibers are also available and allow storage in smaller width splice trays and splitter/coupler packages. Due to their decreased size, diameter strength member and weight, required shrink time is reduced to just 30-50 seconds. The clear outer tube, with metallic stainless steel strength member, makes it easy to view the joint point inside after fiber splicing.

Custom lengths available Fiber splice sleeve is composed of a steel strength member, inner fiber tube and outer shrink tube, two clear outer tubes for viewing the color of the optical fiber itself.Strength member is made from “Full hard” stainless steel of 304 grade and is ground at the edges before polishing to make it completely burr free to avoid rupturing during shrinking.

The thermo shrinking type of splice protection sleeves consists of three parts, the outer heat shrinkable tubing, the inner hot melt adhesive tubing and the strength member. Ther inner hot melt adhesive melts and adheres to the fiber and the outer tubing shrinks to completely encaspulate it. The strength member gives mechanical strength to the sleeve preventing bending and allowing the sleeves to be arranged in splicing trays conveniently.
